ANNOUNCEMENT: Submit Your SEL/Character Building Practices

Social emotional learning (SEL) and character building have long been at the core of school and community based expanded learning programs. For many of us, this work was  instinctual. However, recent research has confirmed the importance of this work in promoting learning and healthy development and called on programs to be more intentional in their program design and practices.

Temescal Associates and the Expanded Learning 360°/365 project has framed the work of  SEL and character building in three areas: We Are, We Belong, We Can.

We are putting together a briefing paper to capture actual program practices that are being used to promote social emotional learning and character building. We invite you to submit and share program practices for this paper. If your practice is selected, your program will be highlighted in our briefing paper as well as on our website. ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Beyond the Bell Branch (BTB) of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is proud to announce our 2nd Annual Social Emotional Learning Conference in May of 2018.  Last year we had over 300 students and teachers participate in a daylong conference where they learned from fellow teachers and students what promising practices are being used in classroom across the district.  This year we are looking to expand the number of participants as well as the scope of workshops being offered.

Through the generosity of sponsors such as yourself, we provide breakfast, a working lunch with key note speaker, parking and give away items.  Your company logo will be prominently displayed on our invitation, agenda and on banners at the conference.  Your company will also be publically thanked on the day of our event by our student school board representative.

For your records, the Los Angeles Unified School District’s federal tax identification number is 95-6001908. As a duly constituted political subdivision of the State of California it is considered a charitable organization for purposes related to donations.

Please make the check payable to: LAUSD Education Foundation.  In the “Memo” line please include the phrase: SEL conference

Mail to: LAUSD/Beyond the Bell, 333 S. Beaudry, 29th Floor, Los Angeles, CA. 90017. Attn: SEL Conference

Upon receipt we will mail you a letter with your tax-deductible donation amount on it.  On behalf of the students, staff and families of LAUSD we want to thank you for your generosity.
