How to Help

  • Learn about SEL on this website and through the SEL links provided by www.casel.org.
  • Fill out the form on the Join SEL4CA  page. NO DUES and each membership adds to our clout with educators, administrators, legislators, the media and other decision makers – also with the public.  There will also be opportunities for you to advance the cause in a number of ways, including in joint actions and events with other members.
  • If you are a parent, arrange a meeting with your school, PTO, teachers, friends and family to discuss SEL as a way of combating violence and addictions. See our SEL for Parents page.
  • If you are a teacher or administrator, check out our SEL for Teachers and For Administrators & Board Members pages.
  • Recruit your peers and natural allies to take advocacy action in your own schools and districts.
  • Learn SEL techniques to use at home.  Google for many examples, home training, and books. It will change your life for the better.
  • Encourage our elected officials to promote, implement and measure results from SEL programming in order to make our streets safe, our schools meaningful and our society more positive.
  • As we at the Alliance organize delegations to key decision makers, pay attention to our announcements and join us when you can.
  • Host an Alliance fundraising Dinner Party and invite friends who will buy a ticket to it via Eventbrite, with the proceeds going to help us promote the cause. (Info link coming soon.)
  • Volunteer to hand-out brochures at the State House, at parent-teacher meetings, at places of worship.
  • Talk up whenever you can SEL and it’s ability to raise emotional intelligence and the benefits that ensue.
